Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Indica and Sativa?

Traditionally, cannabis strains have been categorized as either Indica or Sativa.

Indica strains are often associated with relaxing, body-focused effects and are commonly chosen for evening use or unwinding after a long day.

Sativa strains are often associated with uplifting, energetic, and cerebral effects, making them a popular choice for daytime activities and creative pursuits.

However, modern cannabis genetics are highly blended, and most strains today are hybrids. The effects you experience depend not only on whether a strain is labeled Indica or Sativa, but also on its cannabinoid and terpene profile.

Outdoor, Greenhouse, Greendoor & Indoor

Outdoor

Outdoor cannabis is grown under natural sunlight and environmental conditions.

Benefits:

  • Natural growing environment
  • Lower production costs
  • Often offers excellent value for money

Things to expect:

  • Larger harvests
  • Slightly less visual perfection than indoor-grown flower
  • Unique terpene profiles influenced by nature

Greenhouse

Greenhouse cannabis is grown in a protected structure that uses sunlight while shielding plants from harsh weather.

Benefits:

  • More controlled than outdoor cultivation
  • Efficient use of natural sunlight
  • Consistent quality and good value

Greendoor

Greendoor cultivation combines natural sunlight with a highly controlled indoor-style environment.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced environmental control
  • Excellent terpene and cannabinoid development
  • Often considered a premium middle ground between greenhouse and indoor

Indoor

Indoor cannabis is grown entirely inside a controlled environment using artificial lighting.

Benefits:

  • Maximum control over growing conditions
  • Dense, visually appealing buds
  • Consistent quality throughout the year

Things to expect:

  • Premium appearance
  • High potency potential
  • Typically the most expensive cultivation method
What are terpenes?

Terpenes are naturally occurring aromatic compounds found in cannabis and many other plants.

They are responsible for the unique aromas and flavors of different strains, such as citrus, pine, earth, berries, or diesel. Terpenes may also influence the overall experience of a strain when combined with cannabinoids like THC and CBD.

What is THC?

THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the primary psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis.

It is responsible for the "high" commonly associated with cannabis and may contribute to effects such as euphoria, relaxation, altered perception, and increased appetite.

Higher THC percentages do not always mean a better experience — terpenes and overall strain composition are equally important.

What is CBD?

CBD (cannabidiol) is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid found in cannabis.

Unlike THC, CBD does not produce a traditional cannabis high. Many people seek out CBD-rich products because they prefer a more balanced experience.

How do I choose the right strain?

The best strain depends on your personal preferences and desired experience.

Consider:

  • Whether you prefer relaxing or uplifting effects
  • Aroma and flavor preferences
  • THC and CBD levels
  • Time of day you plan to use it

If you're unsure where to start, explore our strain descriptions and terpene profiles to find a product that matches your preferences.

Why do the same strains affect people differently?

Everyone's body chemistry is unique.

Factors such as tolerance, metabolism, experience level, environment, mood, and individual sensitivity can all influence how a particular strain feels from person to person.

For this reason, experiences may vary even when using the same product.

What is Hydro (Hydroponically Grown Cannabis)?

"Hydro" is one of the most commonly used terms in the cannabis industry, but it is often misunderstood.

Many people assume that Hydro refers exclusively to cannabis grown in water-based systems such as Deep Water Culture (DWC). In reality, the term is much broader and generally refers to cannabis grown in any soilless medium. This includes coco peat, one of the most popular cultivation mediums used by commercial growers today.

Although coco peat looks similar to soil, it is a sterile growing medium that relies on nutrient solutions in much the same way as traditional hydroponic systems.

Does Hydro Mean Better Quality?

Not necessarily.

While many premium indoor growers use hydroponic or coco-based systems, the growing medium alone does not determine the quality of the final flower. Some of the finest cannabis in the world is grown in living organic soil, while some hydroponic flower may fall short of premium standards.

At Blaze of Glory, we believe quality should be judged by the final product, not the cultivation method.

How Do We Measure Quality?

Our assessment focuses on factors such as:

  • Trichome density and resin production
  • Aroma and terpene expression
  • Potency and cannabinoid profile
  • Appearance and cure quality
  • Member feedback and overall smoking experience

Our Quality Standards

Every batch is evaluated on its own merits.

If a hydro-grown flower meets our premium standards, it will be classified accordingly. If it falls below the expected quality level for that category, it may be downgraded to a more appropriate category or not offered for sale at all.

Our goal is simple: honest classification, fair pricing, and consistent quality, regardless of how the flower was grown.

What Makes Blaze of Glory Different?

The cannabis industry in South Africa remains largely unregulated, which means quality standards can vary significantly from one supplier to another. Unfortunately, this sometimes leads to products being inaccurately labeled, with greenhouse flower marketed as indoor, or outdoor flower sold as greenhouse.

At Blaze of Glory, transparency comes first.

We believe members deserve to know exactly what they are purchasing, which is why every flower category is priced according to its genuine quality and cultivation method. We do not believe in misleading marketing or inflated labels.

Our cultivation partners have years of experience producing premium cannabis, and every batch undergoes quality assessment before reaching our members. Whether a product is listed as Outdoor, Greenhouse, Greendoor, or Indoor, it must meet the quality standards expected of that category.

Our goal is simple: honest descriptions, fair pricing, and exceptional flower. When you shop with Blaze of Glory, you can be confident that what is on the label is what is in the jar.
